Anxiety monitor & Environmental monitor
Anxiety monitor
The anxiety monitor, a comprehensive long-term study conducted by the gfs-zürich research institute since 1980, indicates the level of threat as experienced subjectively in Switzerland. Thanks to the study’s long-term performance, its findings make possible an advanced understanding of the anxieties besetting the Swiss population.
The fear of crime has risen sharply over that of the previous year, along with concerns about immigration and a decline in morals. During the same period anxiety about a recession has dropped.
Environmental monitor
The environmental monitor, created in 1986, is managed by the gfs-zürich research institute in collaboration with some 20 specialist institutes, mainly located at universities. The environmental monitor provides comprehensive long-term observation of our society. It monitors the Swiss population’s attitude to environmental issues and correlates it with their actual ecological behaviour. Among the key findings of the 2009 issue is the fact that the people of Switzerland are more motivated in the field of environmental protection than at any time since 1986. Overall, explicit commitment to environmental protection has increased significantly.
